Anne Jung

Anne Jung is a German choreographer and former stage dancer whose work is rooted in elite athletic discipline, contemporary dance, and institutional stage experience. Before entering professional dance, she competed internationally in rhythmic gymnastics with the German national team, including European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Games.

She later trained at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and began her professional dance career with Ballett Mainz. She subsequently danced with Nederlands Dans Theater I from 2014 to 2017 and Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company from 2017 to 2022. Across these companies, she performed works by choreographers including Marco Goecke, Jacopo Godani, William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Sol León, Paul Lightfoot, and others.

Anne began developing choreographic work while still performing, including #onewithtwo for NDT’s Switch programme. Since then, her choreographic practice has expanded through commissions and projects with institutions including Louisville Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet’s Noverre programme, Graz Ballet, Poznań Opera Ballet, Augsburg Ballet, and Theater Basel. Louisville Ballet awarded her the inaugural Dysart Award, which included a commission for her work #fourwithsix.

Her choreographic language has been publicly described by Theater Basel as physically precise, musically sensitive, and complex in its treatment of the body. As part of 2A Talent, Anne brings a choreographic and movement-authorship profile suited to stage commissions, interdisciplinary productions, contemporary performance, movement direction, and concept-led visual work. Her biography connects athletic discipline, elite company experience, and a mature choreographic voice.
