Igone de Jongh
Igone de Jongh is a Dutch ballerina, former principal dancer of Dutch National Ballet, artistic leader, mentor, and cultural figure. She trained at Amsterdam’s National Ballet Academy and the Royal Ballet School in London before joining Dutch National Ballet, where she rose through the ranks and became principal dancer at the age of twenty-four.
During her career with Dutch National Ballet, she danced many of the major classical roles, including Juliet, Odette/Odile, Giselle, and Aurora. She has also been closely associated with the work of Hans van Manen and is widely recognized as one of the major Dutch ballerinas of her generation. Her public career extends beyond performance into mentoring, teaching, artistic leadership, and cultural projects.
Since 2020, Igone has been connected to the European School of Ballet as a faculty member. She has also served as artistic director of the United Ukrainian Ballet Company, an initiative created to support Ukrainian dancers affected by the war. In recent years, she has continued to appear in performance and cultural contexts, including Renaissance, an autobiographical stage production exploring success, vulnerability, and renewal.
